objects and ideas showcases the work of Di Tao, a Toronto based designer.

With his unique-thinking and industry experience, Taodi approaches his designs from variety of perspectives, which leading them to become inventive, thoughtful and poetic.

Taodi is currently a senior designer for BlackBerry's design planning team, He works on a variety of projects, ranging from wearable accessories to mobile computing systems. He plays a key role in developing new generations of the BlackBerry product portfolio. Many of his early design concepts have been turned into globally aware products, such as the Q5, Z10, Bold 9790, Torch 9860, Curve 9320 and 9360.

Previously Taodi was employed by BMW DesignworksUSA (a strategic design consultancy) as a senior designer at their Singapore studio, where he worked on a number of projects for both BMW and external clients ranging from user research to strategic product architectures, and principal design languages of future products.

After studying for an MA in Industrial Design from the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, Taodi worked in product and conceptual design at Nokia Design (2001-2006). His designs for Nokia included the world's best selling mobile phones Nokia 1110 and 1600, which together exceeded 380 Million units. Previous to his work for Nokia, Taodi also designed jewellery and domestic items for Aarikka, Finland which are still in commercial production.

In addition to his commercial work, Taodi applies himself to a range of experimental projects to improve and expand upon his core skills. Subject areas include furniture, lighting, tableware, and jewelry, and from these he has won a number of international awards including Red-Dot Award 2013 / 2008 / 2006 and Taiwan International Design Competition 2005. Some of his works have been exhibited at 100% Design 2006 in Tokyo, and form part of the permanent collection at the Taiwan Design Center. As a design team member for the Nokia 6108, Taodi jointly received the Design for Asia Award from HKDC 2003.
